Bend is one of the best home bases in Central Oregon for winter adventure. Within a short drive you’ll find miles of groomed Nordic trails winding through snowy forests, volcanic landscapes, and quiet mountain meadows.

Whether you’re looking for a quick morning ski or a full day exploring pristine wilderness, these are five of our favorite Nordic ski areas near our home.

1. Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center

Distance from Bend: ~30 minutes

If you want perfect grooming and endless trail options, this is the place.

The Nordic Center at Mt. Bachelor offers one of the largest groomed trail systems in the country with over 50 km of groomed trails. The routes wind through old-growth forests with occasional views of the Cascade peaks.

2. Virginia Meissner Sno-Park

The trail system sits higher in elevation and often has great snow conditions even late in the season.
